In Zhejiang Province, He Baoxiang discussed with Xu Luode, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection.  He Baoxiang said that the private economy of Zhejiang Province is well developed and Zhejiang Province has a certain influence in the China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. Hunan Province and Zhejiang Province can strengthen and further deepening their cooperation and achieve win-win results via the CAETE. Xu Luode said that the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government attach great importance to the China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, and will actively participate in various preparations as well as work with other provincial governments to achieve more practical results of the Expo and deepen the economic and trade cooperation with Africa.

In recent years, leaders of Zhejiang Province have led several delegations to visit Africa, jointly held a series of activities based on the Belt and Road Initiative, signed a number of major cooperation agreements, and jointly implemented several innovative projects following the Belt and Road Initiative with the local governments in Africa.  In particular, Zhejiang's private economy has played an important role in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative in Africa, and a large number of Zhejiang-based enterprises have become a sample and a model for responding to the Belt and Road initiative and participating in international capacity cooperation.

In the future, Zhejiang will adopt a new positioning and high requirements to further take advantage of the CAETE as a national platform. It will mainly focus on three tasks, to prepare for the Zhejiang-Africa economic and trade activities, to plan the exhibition area with characteristics of Zhejiang and Africa and to increase the publicity of the Zhejiang-Africa cooperation.  As a theme province of the 2nd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, Zhejiang will establish a specific working mechanism, put in effort in all aspects, build highly qualified teams and strive to expand the business size, drive for higher-quality development with higher efficiency and achieve more practical results.

In Jiangxi, He Baoxiang discussed with Hu Qiang, Vice Governor of Jiangxi Province.  He said that Hunan will serve as the host, well establish the platform, ensure service quality and work with sister provinces, cities and districts to make the 2nd CAETE more distinctive and effective.  Hunan Province and Jiangxi Province share resources in industrial parks overseas and have a solid foundation for the cooperation in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the foreign aid training in Africa. The two provinces work together to drive the high-quality development of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.  Hu Qiang said that Jiangxi will actively respond to the invitation from Hunan Province, fully support and participate in the 2nd CAETE as a theme province. It will make a series of arrangements based on the expo’s theme and requirements as well as the actual cooperation between Jiangxi and Africa.

In recent years, China and African countries have been working together to continuously implement the Belt and Road Initiative and the Jiangxi Provincial Government has established connections with more local governments and authorities in Africa.  In 2020, the economic and trade cooperation between Jiangxi and Africa was fruitful. There were 6 more enterprises investing in Africa, with an agreed investment of USD 140 million and an actual investment of USD 170 million, accounting for 20% of the province’s total foreign direct investment in the same period. Enterprises based in Jiangxi Province have newly signed contracts worth USD 2.55 billion for contracted projects with African partners, among which 7 projects each worth over USD 100 million, covering housing construction projects, water conservancy projects and power projects, etc.

Next, Jiangxi will carefully organize and prepare for the expo as a theme province, make full use of the CAETE as a platform and its own advantages, tell China stories well, offer high-quality services to implement the Belt and Road Initiative, ensure smooth domestic and international economic cycle, put in every effort to drive the cooperation between enterprises in Jiangxi Province and Africa and contribute to build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future.
