On June 11, a handover ceremony of medical products for fighting against COVID-19 donated by the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province and Hunan enterprises was held in Nairobi, capital of Kenya. Attendees include Ababu Namwamba, Chief Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya; Susan Mochache, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Health; Solomon Kitungu, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Transport; Zhuo Wu, Chairman of Kenya Chinese Chamber of Commerce; and Zeng Kerong, General Manager of the East African Regional Center of Hunan Road & Bridge Construction Group Corp. (HNRB), a representative of the donating enterprises.
The donation was initiated by the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province. The donated supplies mainly include 105 boxes of surgical masks, isolation gowns and forehead thermometers, with a total value of nearly RMB 400,000. The supplies were jointly purchased and transported by HNRB, Friendship Consultancy Group and Changsha Huanghua Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
At the ceremony, Ababu Namwamba expressed sincere gratitude to the People's Government of Hunan Province and enterprises in Hunan for being considerate and generous, seeking quality suppliers and actively coordinating to provide Kenya with critical and urgently needed supplies for fighting against COVID-19 despite flight shortage and high freight costs.
