Chairman and Vice President of CREC attend the 1st CAETE

From June 27 to 29, the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of PRC and People's Government of Hunan Province is held in Changsha. Hu Chunhua, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attends the opening ceremony to read the congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping and deliver a speech. Hao Peng, Party Secretary of the SASAC CPC Committee and Chairman of SASAC and other leaders attend the opening ceremony. Zhang Zongyan, Chairman of CREC, and Ren Hongpeng, Vice President of CREC, attend a series of activities and have achieved fruitful results.

Themed by “Win-Win Cooperation for Closer China-Africa Economic and Trade Partnership”, CAETE focuses on trade, agriculture, investment and financing, cooperation parks, infrastructure and other key areas. A total of 14 activities and one exhibition are organized in order to conduct in-depth discussion about the new path and new measures for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation from multiple perspectives. The Expo attracts 53 African countries and international organizations such as United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), World Food Programme (WFP), World Trade Organization (WTO) and the African Union, as well as many financial institutions and enterprises.

Before the opening ceremony, Hao Peng, Party Secretary of the SASAC CPC Committee and Chairman of SASAC, visited some pavilions in Hunan International Convention & Exhibition Center. Chairman Zhang Zongyan and Vice President Ren Hongpeng of CREC were invited to attend the tour event with leaders of SASAC. Mr. Hao Peng spoke highly of the booth design and the content arrangement of CREC.

During the Expo, there are 6 pavilions in Hunan International Convention & Exhibition Center, including China-Africa cooperation achievements pavilion, pavilion of African countries, the cooperation cases and programs pavilion, the Chinese sub-national pavilion, the enterprises pavilion, and the online “China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo” pavilion. Besides, CREC with the other 11 central SOEs enters the China Central SOEs Pavilion for achievements exhibition on China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.

The booth of CREC has applied various forms like static display panels, dynamic real-life sand tables, shield models, and LCD TVs to show the five themes, including “participating in infrastructure construction to facilitate the connectivity in Africa”, “accelerating investment in African projects to enhance Africa’s national capability”, "fulfilling the social responsibility to drive sustainable development in Africa", "devoting to the basic livelihood projects to enhance the connections between China and Africa", "developing personnel training in Africa to build a China-Africa community of shared future."

On the afternoon of June 27, Chairman Zhang Zongyan and Vice President Ren Hongpeng are invited to attend the Dialogue of China-Africa Infrastructure and Financing Cooperation hosted by the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA). Vice President Ren Hongpeng delivers a speech on how to innovate the investment and financing models, especially on the African infrastructure cooperation through the integrated model of investment, construction and management. Meanwhile, a signing ceremony for the China-Africa Infrastructure Cooperation Project is also held at the dialogue.

During the ceremony, China Railway International Group subordinate to CREC and Lesotho Electricity Corporation sign the framework agreement for the 132 KV power transmission and transformation project in the central and southern regions; China Railway Beijing Engineering Group and Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria sign the framework contract for the expansion project of the Akwa Ibom International Airport. In addition, at the Seminar on China-Africa Agricultural Cooperation and Development held on the afternoon of June 27, China Railway International Group and the Zimbabwe Ministry of Agriculture signed a memorandum of cooperation on the China-Zimbabwe Modern Agricultural Industrial Park project.

During the Expo, Chairman Zhang Zongyan and Vice President Ren Hongpeng are also invited to attend the welcome dinner and fireworks party hosted by the People's Government of Hunan Province, and the matchmaking conference between Hunan Province and the central SOEs.
